LS Community Church live Sunday gathering, June 29th; teaching by Stan Rodda.
Luke 12:13–21, 2 Corinthians 4:18, 1 Timothy 6:6–10, Matthew 6:24
What if the peaceful, content, and deeply rooted in purpose life you long for isn’t found in getting more, but in choosing less?
In this week’s message, we explore what it means to practice the way of Jesus by living a simple life. Simplicity isn't about minimalism for minimalism’s sake. Rather, it's about making space in our lives to be fully present with Jesus, to become more like Him, and to follow Him wholeheartedly.
Through scripture, personal reflection, and surprising statistics about our stuff and spending, we’re challenged to see both our possessions and our finances in light of eternity. Jesus warns us not against having things but against being consumed by them.
Big Idea: Practicing the Way of Jesus looks like living a simple life. What’s filling your home—and your heart? What does generosity look like in your life? How can we live with eternity in mind? Let’s declutter our souls and make room for what truly matters.
Take Your Next Step:
• Reflect: Where have I placed my trust—stuff or Savior?
• Declutter: “The less you own, the less owns you.”
• Give: Live generously, with eternity in mind.

What does it really mean to serve like Jesus? This week in our Practicing the Way series, we explore the heart of serving not as obligation, but as a rhythm of humility that shapes us to be more like Christ.
From Scripture’s countercultural vision of greatness to real stories of service in our church and city, this message unpacks what it looks like to lay down power, position, and pride and pick up the towel of a servant.
Whether you're new to faith or growing deeper in discipleship, this is a message for every follower of Jesus.

Acts 2:42-47, Acts 2:42, Luke 4:18,19, Mark 1:29, Mark 2:15, Luke 11:1, 2, Acts 2:43, Acts 2:44, Acts 2:45, Acts 2:46, 47
What if community wasn't just something we attended but something we actually practiced as part of a natural rhythm of our lives? In this message, we explore what it means to live in intentional community by embodying the rhythms of Jesus in our everyday relationships. Drawing from Acts 2, we uncover the practices that shaped the early church and how they can shape us today.
Big Idea: Intentional community requires intentional practice.
We’ll cover:
- What Jesus modeled in community: eating together, praying together, living together.
- Why “personal Lord and Savior” misses the communal heartbeat of Christianity.
- How generosity, joy, and togetherness can transform not just our groups—but the world around us.
- What refrigerator rights and daily laughter have to do with following Jesus.

James 1:14–15, Psalm 37:4, John 15:4, Genesis 2:2-3
What if the real reason you feel restless, burned out, or constantly chasing more is because your soul is longing for something deeper? In this message, we explore what it truly means to "practice the way" of Jesus practicing the rhythm of sabbath. How much is enough? How do I find what I’m really looking for? Can I ever be truly satisfied?
In this message, we take a good look into the human desire for satisfaction—and discovering that the answer is not more, but Jesus. We'll learn the importance of how to stop, cease striving, and start living from a place of rest and alignment with God.

John 15:4, John 15:4, 2 Timothy 3:16, John 1:1, 4, 14, Lamentations 3:22, 23, Lamentations 3:22, 23, 1 John 2:3, 6, John 5:39-40, John 14:15
While we wait for the return of Jesus, the question for many became, “What do we do now?” “How are we to live?” We are called to live in rhythms and practices that help us be with Jesus, become like Him, and walk in obedience to Him. In our “Silence & Solitude” message, we talked about how those two rhythms come into play in the life of the follower of Jesus and how Jesus modeled them Himself.
In this message, we are going to discover together practicing the way requires abiding in Jesus. If there is one hope we have for followers of Jesus, it’s to live a full life of joy and peace. Living in and to the fullness of Jesus Many aren’t living in that space for a variety of reasons: Maybe they don’t really want it, maybe they want it but don’t know how, maybe they want to abide but have just hit a wall and need to be reminded/encouraged. We hope by the end of this message, you will be able to assess whether you are abiding in Jesus or not and what it will look like for you to take the necessary next steps to do so.

John 10:27, Psalm 37:30, Psalm 82:3, 1 Thessalonians 2, Habakkuk 2:20, Luke 6:12, Mark 1:35, Matthew 14:13
Like the Jews of the Old Testament, who waited millennia for the Messiah to arrive, we are now in a season of waiting for the Messiah to arrive the second time.
This is where these questions came to mind: “What are we supposed to be doing while we wait for Jesus to return?” “What does it look like to live rhyths and practices as followers of Jesus?”
So, while we wait for the return of Jesus, we want to live the kind of life that reflects and mirrors the life of Jesus. In this message series, we are practicing the way– looking at the practices of Jesus and how we practice them still today.

This is the final message in our series, “A New Hope” and our journey through the key stories that make up the Bible narrative. We walked through the entire Bible sharing the overarching story that God is relentlessly pursuing His creation.
Our first act began with “Once Upon A Time” where we talked about the creation of the universe and creation of God’s people, the Israelites.
In our second act, we talked “Game of Thrones” A series where we identified with God’s people as they struggled to allow God to lead, wrestled with polytheism and monarchy.
Who’s in charge around here anyway?
In our third act, we talked “Losing my religion” where we discovered what it looks like when we go our own way. God’s nation divided and began to crumble from within.
In our fourth act. we talked “Back to the future” where we looked at when God brought His people out of exile returning them home to where they were supposed to be all along.
We went into a fifth act, “The Most Interesting Man In the World” where we followed Jesus for six weeks. We discovered His primary Kingdom message. We spent time with Him and His disciples as he went to the cross and ultimately rose from the dead.
Today, we are wrapping up our sixth act, “A New Hope” where we have discovered what it looks like to live a Kingdom lifestyle and ultimately, in this message, we discover that God’s pursuit of His creation is fulfilled.
The Bible has beautiful bookends, Genesis to Revelation. A perfect world and garden in the beginning. A perfect relationship with God. And now that story is bookended with another perfect world. A new creation, New Jerusalem.
In this message, we discover the end of all things. And just like the Jews waited millennia for a Messiah, it’s our turn to wait for the return of the Messiah for the day He makes all things right.

Acts 21:30-32, Acts 22:22, Acts 27:1, Acts 27:41-44, Hebrews 12:2
The book of Ecclesiastes reminds us that often times life is not easy nor fair. Just because someone follows Jesus, doesn’t mean that life will be easy. In reality it can be downright unfair.
For some when they begin to follow Jesus, somehow what gets communicated is their life will be easier, better, and God will make it all good. And then we go through difficult things and we begin to ask, “God, where are You?” “Are You still good?” “Do You hear my prayers?”
Something that is reiterated in the New Testament is a truth that we often found in the stories of people in the Old Testament and that is God’s pursuit doesn’t mean life will always be easy. But there’s always hope!
In this message, we rejoin the apostle Paul in the twilight years of his life and we see that even after decades of ministry church planting and evangelism that didn’t equal and easy road for him but there was always hope.

LS Community Church live Sunday gathering, May 4th; teaching by Corbett Cutts
Acts 13:32, 38-39, Acts 13:43-45, Acts 1
This new community of followers of Jesus had a lot to unlearn. Generations of living in an old sacrificial system, leaving many people out of God’s family. Everything was changing and this community had to wrestle with what it meant for them. Who is in the club? When will Jesus return?
Not only did these early followers have to unlearn some things, but many times also we are in the same boat. Needing to unlearn much of what we are taught that may not be of the Kingdom.

LS Community Church live Sunday gathering, April 27th; teaching by Stan Rodda
Acts 2:1-4, Acts 2:42, Acts 4:8-12, Acts 4:32-35, Acts 10:44, 47-18
Jesus is the resurrected Messiah. Prophecies fulfilled. This is the beginning of God’s new kingdom. And now we have a new hope that Jesus will one day return and finish what He started by making all things new.
Just like so much of the story we have already been through, the New Testament contains its own unique moments. As you read chapter 28 in The Story, you’re going to find moments like
• The beginning of the church
• Miracles, signs and wonders
• Early followers arrested and freed
• Followers who died for their faith (martyrs)
• The story on the Damascus Road
• Saul comes to faith
But the really big deal we discover early on is that God doesn’t leave us to figure out how to do this church thing and live this new life. Instead, He equips us to live a Kingdom lifestyle.

Whoever has ears, let them hear.
Welcome to LS Community Church.
The heartbeat that drives us is the desire to give every man, woman and child the opportunity to hear, know and follow Jesus. There is nothing more important than that.
God has put a new calling on LS Community Church to be a unique expression of church. We are a Bible-based community of people, from all over the Lee’s Summit community and surrounding areas, who make up an extended spiritual family and network of disciple makers. We believe that one’s faith is not meant to be only personal but should be shared with others. To do this, we focus all our efforts on inviting followers of Jesus to walk in new rhythms as disciples of Jesus. These rhythms are a repeating cycle which include: understanding identity, hearing and obeying the voice of Jesus, living on mission and sharing the Gospel with the people God has placed in each of our lives.
