LS Community Church live Sunday gathering; teaching by Stan Rodda.
Genesis 12:1-6, 13:14-18, 15:1-6, 15:8-21, 17:15-17, 18:10-15,
21:1-2
We began with creation. Genesis, which means "origin," tells us the beginning of things. God is the source of all life. He is the Creator of all things. By faith we believe this. But with that creation also came a choice. God loves humanity and love requires a choice. Humanity chose to go their own way and brought sin and death into the world. This decision breaks the communion we had with God. And now the plot is obvious; God's pursuit of His creation to reconcile them is underway. And after the flood, humanity begins to repopulate the earth. And God's pursuit takes another step when He reaches out to a man named Abram. This is one of the parts of the Story where we're going to learn God's pursuit often feels upside down.

LS Community Church live Sunday gathering; teaching by Stan Rodda.
Genesis 1:13, 1:26-28, 1:31, 2:15-17, 3:1-7, 3:15 Hebrews 11:3, 1 Corinthians 15:54-57
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. This is followed by six days of work. God separates day and night. He separates the waters above and below. He makes dry land appear. He causes the earth to produce vegetation. He puts the sun, moon and stars in the sky. Then creates fish and birds. Followed by animals on the dry ground. And when creation begins to teem with life.
But like most stories beginning with “Once upon a time,” no matter how picturesque the opening scene, it doesn’t usually last long. And the plot immediately thickens. And the same holds true in Genesis. The joyful, powerful opening scene comes crashing down when God’s creation falls.

Saturday Oct 19, 2024

Lee’s Summit Community Church Pastors Stan Rodda, Kevin Hartman, and Corbett Cutts sit down to talk through our upcoming series – The Story: Once Upon A Time beginning Oct. 20, 2024.

The Story (based on the book The Story by Max Lucado and Randy Frazee) is a 31 week/chapter chronological walk through of key stories that make up the story of God’s pursuit of His creation.

On Sunday, Oct. 20 begins Act 1– Once Upon A Time. Creation begins and God is putting everything together, setting the world into motion. But like many stories everything doesn’t always stay the same.

In this episode, we explore topics that will be covered in the first “act” of The Story as well as share some information that was left on the “cutting room floor” (i.e. some things we just can’t get to under the time limitations of Sunday). Topics related to the story of Joseph, Moses, the Ten Commandments – to name a few!)

LS Community Church live Sunday gathering; teaching by Stan Rodda.

We're starting a church-wide book study of The Story - a collection of key stories from the Bible that make up the story of God's relentless pursuit of His people in an accessible, novel-like way.

In this message, Stan gives a very high level overview of the setup of the Bible and how through the The Story we will focus in on the key stories that give the main "upper story" narrative of the Bible. Each week, the message will be based on one chapter of the book.

Group discussions questions will also be provided weekly to supplement the reading and the message.

Purchase your copy of The Story on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/NIV-Story-Hardcover-Comfort-Print/dp/0310458196/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?crid=2BUYGY7RCJES1&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.c3Ymwvsb9eAqz0mr__ESNoxBbWBhRMZvgAGJXIMpfpISMmqEjIVVb29lK86u0XgkvYp2bdcSFxMFJSBwDzvoqBq_i_OG0x-iUAXJgo1t8LyxjkUruCfYYTE5thCYIghDkVdW4lgRRGFLL8CM1DR4UNVTCHsDQTseZ3XW_ID9UWHI3RpZJF6uyWjTyvWZUDQd_sb_-4ecrK_DFYtxPu9zIdqJpn3Yr-8sg1iabpiVHrc.nP3sJTQ70uZSA1aQJMl_4xEwtNa6VkErWxst3ac0Ijs&dib_tag=se&keywords=The+Story&qid=1728931599&sprefix=the+story%2Caps%2C151&sr=8-3-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1

In this message, we cover a tool used to engage people God has placed in your life to build relationship and share the Gospel.

LS Community Church live Sunday gathering; teaching by Kevin Hartman
Matthew 28:18-20, Matthew 3:16-17, Psalm 1:1-2, Psalm 119:105, Acts 10:1-5, Acts, 10:9-16
Most Christians agree that we should live in obedience to what God is telling us to do. However, the part many struggle with is how to hear the voice of God in the first place. We can hear the voice of God through prayer, events, dreams, and visions. And when we hear the voice of God it should propel us into action.
In this message, Kevin goes over how to hear the voice of God and the rhythms we should engage in to make room for obedience in response.

Matthew 28:18-20
Who is LS Community Church? What are we about?
At the foundation of following Jesus is daily surrender and obedience to Jesus because he is King.
Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of[a] all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember,[b] I am with you always,[c] to the end of the age.”
– Matthew 28:18-20

Practices:
–Learning to die to self (Luke 9:23-24)
–Renew Your Mid (Romans 12:1-2)
–Own your own spiritual growth (Philippians 2:12-13)

LS Community Church live Sunday gathering; teaching by Stan Rodda.

Throughout Esther, God has been silent. His Name is never mentioned. Throughout this story,
We have sought to find God hiding in plain sight– sovereign in the coincidences of life
We have seen Him sovereign over kings & commoners. Sovereign over our best and worst laid plans. Sovereign in our humble courage. Sovereign in His own timing. Sovereign in that He remembers His people and promises.

In this message, we discover God’s sovereignty turns everything upside downs in the Kingdom of God. It’s a beautiful paradox.

Saturday Sep 14, 2024

We’re kicking off a new series at LS Community Church and we want to talk about it!
Lee’s Summit Community Church Pastors Stan Rodda and Kevin Hartman sit down to talk through our upcoming series – The Story, beginning Oct. 13, 2024.
Our vision at Lee’s Summit Community Church is to Saturate Lee’s Summit (and beyond) with the Gospel of Jesus. This is easier to do the more comfortable we are with the meta narrative of the Bible and what God is up to in the world.
The Story (based on the book The Story by Max Lucado and Randy Frazee) is a 31 week/chapter chronological walk through of key stories that make up the story of God’s pursuit of His people throughout the world. Chances are you know people who are open to learning more about scripture if they were asked. We call the “the moveable middle.” Who could you invite to join you on this journey?
To get the most out of the series:
Join us each week at Lee’s Summit Community Church or online via YouTube or Facebook for the weekly message.
Subscribe/follow the podcast LS Community Church where you listen to your favorite podcasts. Most weeks it will be a replay of the Sunday message. However, there will be occasional bonus episodes like this one where pastors expand on certain topics.
Get the book. Each week will be based on one chapter from the book. The Story, a blank journal, and bookmark will be available at LS Community Church on Sunday, Sept. 29 for a suggested donation of $10 ($5/book, $5/journal). You are welcome to buy the book through Amazon or bookstore (typically $5) or ebook.
Join a Community Group. Each week, we will make available through our website and our app a pdf of discussion questions. These are most impactful if discussed with a group of people. Beyond the group study, we believe you will find authentic connection with others in your group.

LS Community Church live Sunday gathering; teaching by Stan Rodda.
Psychologists at the University of Aberdeen looked into the experience of being forgotten and studied how it damaged relationships Dr. Devin Ray explained his research“Scientists have been studying what we remember and forget for decades, but no one has asked why it matters if someone remembers or forgets another person.” One of the main findings in their research was, “Being forgotten affects the closeness of relationships because the forgotten person infers that they are less important to the forgetter.”
Maybe you have experienced this in a marriage, with a close friend, or a family member. And there is a certain level of pain associated with feeling as if  you’ve been forgotten by someone.
This happens in our relationship with God also. Many times we may feel as if God has somehow forgotten us. Someone else got the promotion, the nicer house, the new car, the better family life, etc.
As we near the end of the story of Esther, we see the entire narrative reversing itself. Now it’s all heading in a different direction. Everything seemingly being made right again. We discover a significant truth that we need to be reminded of; God remembers His people and His promises.

Whoever has ears, let them hear.

Welcome to LS Community Church.

The heartbeat that drives us is the desire to give every man, woman and child the opportunity to hear, know and follow Jesus. There is nothing more important than that.

God has put a new calling on LS Community Church to be a unique expression of church. We are a Bible-based community of people, from all over the Lee’s Summit community and surrounding areas, who make up an extended spiritual family and network of disciple makers. We believe that one’s faith is not meant to be only personal but should be shared with others. To do this, we focus all our efforts on inviting followers of Jesus to walk in new rhythms as disciples of Jesus. These rhythms are a repeating cycle which include: understanding identity, hearing and obeying the voice of Jesus, living on mission and sharing the Gospel with the people God has placed in each of our lives.
