LS Community Church live Sunday gathering, May 11th; teaching by Stan Rodda.
Acts 21:30-32, Acts 22:22, Acts 27:1, Acts 27:41-44, Hebrews 12:2
The book of Ecclesiastes reminds us that often times life is not easy nor fair. Just because someone follows Jesus, doesn’t mean that life will be easy. In reality it can be downright unfair.
For some when they begin to follow Jesus, somehow what gets communicated is their life will be easier, better, and God will make it all good. And then we go through difficult things and we begin to ask, “God, where are You?” “Are You still good?” “Do You hear my prayers?”
Something that is reiterated in the New Testament is a truth that we often found in the stories of people in the Old Testament and that is God’s pursuit doesn’t mean life will always be easy. But there’s always hope!
In this message, we rejoin the apostle Paul in the twilight years of his life and we see that even after decades of ministry church planting and evangelism that didn’t equal and easy road for him but there was always hope.

LS Community Church live Sunday gathering, May 4th; teaching by Corbett Cutts
Acts 13:32, 38-39, Acts 13:43-45, Acts 1
This new community of followers of Jesus had a lot to unlearn. Generations of living in an old sacrificial system, leaving many people out of God’s family. Everything was changing and this community had to wrestle with what it meant for them. Who is in the club? When will Jesus return?
Not only did these early followers have to unlearn some things, but many times also we are in the same boat. Needing to unlearn much of what we are taught that may not be of the Kingdom.

LS Community Church live Sunday gathering, April 27th; teaching by Stan Rodda
Acts 2:1-4, Acts 2:42, Acts 4:8-12, Acts 4:32-35, Acts 10:44, 47-18
Jesus is the resurrected Messiah. Prophecies fulfilled. This is the beginning of God’s new kingdom. And now we have a new hope that Jesus will one day return and finish what He started by making all things new.
Just like so much of the story we have already been through, the New Testament contains its own unique moments. As you read chapter 28 in The Story, you’re going to find moments like
• The beginning of the church
• Miracles, signs and wonders
• Early followers arrested and freed
• Followers who died for their faith (martyrs)
• The story on the Damascus Road
• Saul comes to faith
But the really big deal we discover early on is that God doesn’t leave us to figure out how to do this church thing and live this new life. Instead, He equips us to live a Kingdom lifestyle.

The end of Jesus’ life and ministry is not the end of the story. In fact, in many ways it’s a new beginning. A new way of living. A new hope that God will make all things right and one day again dwell with His people.
“A New Hope” focuses on the beginning of the church. God’s new Kingdom people made up of Jews and Gentiles. The tearing down of dividing walls between people. Unity in King Jesus. God’s pursuit taking on practical hands and feet as people live out a new hope among humanity.
From the earliest days of the church to the Apostle Paul’s passionate appeals to the church. Paul leads the way as thousands of new followers of Jesus are trying to unlearn and deconstruct, an old way of thinking and living. They are learning together how to live in a new hope following Jesus.
Together we discover what it must have been like to be a part of this fledgling community as they lay the foundation for the beginnings of what we now call Christianity.
It’s a new way of living. A new beginning. A new hope that God is making all things right in this world through His Kingdom and will one day set all things right.

LS Community Church live Sunday gathering, April 20th; teaching by Stan Rodda.
Luke 24:13-24, Luke 24:25-27, Colossians 1:16-20, 1 Corinthians 15:3, 55, Luke 24:28-35, Acts 2:36-38
In the messages leading up to this one, we spent time with Jesus and His final words for His disciples before the cross.
We walked to the cross on Good Friday and reflected on Jesus’ final words. In this Easter message, we discover the confirmation of all that God has been promising and accomplished in and through the resurrection of King Jesus.
We hope this message encourages you and helps give perspective to the overall story that God is writing.
If you’re here and you’re not a follower of Jesus, we hope this message gives you clarity and direction while pointing you only at the hope we have in Jesus who conquered the grave.

John 13:8, 9, John 13:34, John 14:6, John 14:9, John 15:4, John 16:33, John 17:1, John 18:1-3, John 19:16b-18
It’s always interesting to read or hear the final words people say right before they pass away:
• “I have offended God and mankind because my work did not reach the quality it should have.” -DaVinci
• “Happy anniversary. I love you.” -Lombardi
• “I feel great.” -Pete Maravich
• “I have pain, but I have peace, I have peace.” Richard Baxter
• “Nothing, only ‘love one another.’” William Seward
It’s an unpleasant topic to think about death. The final words people say on their death beds is a very telling thing to hear for what ultimately matters in life.
And this, in this message, is where we find Jesus and His disciples today. The second most important event in human history is about to unfold. The moment in The Story where we find God’s Pursuit Finds its Apex at the Cross.
With the cross just a few hours ahead for Jesus he has a final meal with His disciples. This moment to share the most important truths.
In this message, we’ll discover some of Jesus’ final words before the cross.

Romans 6:23, Mark 8:31, Mark 9:31, 32, Mark 10:33, 34, John 11:4, John 11:21, 22, John 11:253-26, John 11:27, John 11:41-44
Jesus shows up in the most unique way. Begins a ministry focused on the marginalized in the world. Brings good news to the humble, meek & poor. Heals and feeds people.
Traveling homeless preacher from Galilee. Tours for 3+ years. Healing, feeding, teaching discipling, modeling, and loving. Turning the world upside down.
And now He starts saying some strange things that really make the disciples wonder what’s going on with Him. The reality is that Jesus knows something that they don’t. He knows what God is ultimately up to and what God is about to do and what we'lllearn in this message is God’s Pursuit Foreshadows the Culmination of His Plan.

LS Community Church live Sunday gathering, March 30th; teaching by Stan Rodda.
Matthew 5:3-10, Matthew 5:43-48, Matthew 6:24-34, Matthew 6:10,
There is no greater transformative message or upside-down challenge that can change everything you think you know message than the Sermon on the Mount.
As we have tracked through The Story, God’s creation, His people, His nation, His Tabernacle and Temple, His relationship with humanity, we have finally arrived at the point in the storywhere heaven meets earth in the man, Jesus, Immanuel, God with us.
And He does anything but keep the same old, same old. He challenges the status quo. Turned everything upside down. Found a third way to answer when tested. He spoke with authority. He ate with sinners and prostitutes. He enjoyed the favor of the common person. And in arguably the most brilliant teaching ever, Jesus masterfully crafts a message that will disrupt, not only the Jewish way of thinking. but the course of humanity.
The sermon on the mount proves one thing for sure that God’s Pursuit Calls Us to Be an Upside-Down People.

Mark 1:14-15, Mark 2:1-12, Mark 2:17, Luke 4:16-19, John 1:35-42
So many incredible moments mark the beginning of Jesus’ ministry. From His
baptism and time of preparation in the wilderness, to calling some of His first disciples.
But perhaps the thing that truly sets it apart is the people He goes after first. Jesus Himself from Galilee, a back woods town like Nazareth, can anything good come from there anyway? Jesus Himself is overlooked and despised. And it is the marginalized and outcasts that Jesus goes to.

LS Community Church live Sunday gathering, March 16th; teaching by Max Magee.
John 1:6-8, Isaiah 40: 3, Luke 1:30-35, 2Samuel 7:12-13, Matthew 1:19-24, Isaiah 7:14, Luke 2:4-7, Isaiah 9:6-7, Micah 5:2, Luke 2:13, Matthew 1:23, John 14:25-26
There have been 400 of years silence since the Jewish people have heard from God. No encounters. No prophetic messages. They began to wonder what they had done. Where was God?
Then, a series of prophecies began to be fulfilled. There were angelic encounters. Miracle pregnancies, a virgin birth, a messiah is born. And God was clearly on the move again. Not only on the move, but was living among his people through Immanuel, God With Us, Jesus.

Whoever has ears, let them hear.
Welcome to LS Community Church.
The heartbeat that drives us is the desire to give every man, woman and child the opportunity to hear, know and follow Jesus. There is nothing more important than that.
God has put a new calling on LS Community Church to be a unique expression of church. We are a Bible-based community of people, from all over the Lee’s Summit community and surrounding areas, who make up an extended spiritual family and network of disciple makers. We believe that one’s faith is not meant to be only personal but should be shared with others. To do this, we focus all our efforts on inviting followers of Jesus to walk in new rhythms as disciples of Jesus. These rhythms are a repeating cycle which include: understanding identity, hearing and obeying the voice of Jesus, living on mission and sharing the Gospel with the people God has placed in each of our lives.
